” Real music is full of subtleties, even if it’s a grunge punk band that does nothing but play loud scream into the microphone. There’s great ones and putrid ones (I almost said “rancid” but that’s an actual name of a band”

” I had recorded Steve Nelson’s vibes in stereo and panned them in the mix from audience left to just left of center stage. Through the KEF Blade Twos, every mallet stroke was precisely positioned in space.”

“I had to think for quite a while before I could come up with some negatives regarding the sound quality of these speakers. Sans grilles they may be one of the best looking speakers on the market in their price range, and quite beyond – the combination of the external tweeter, the single yellow Kevlar mid/bass driver above the two other woofers, all with their conical anti-resonance dust plugs – no one is likely to mistake these speakers for any other that B&W. I might have preferred a different color that the black I was sent, but that complaint definitely belongs in the nit-picking category, and easily ignored. Sonically, I thought that perhaps at times the B&W CM10 S2 sounded too good”

” While they play all music well, they play acoustical music and vocals in a way that is very real sounding. The overall sound of these small wonders is open, transparent and despite their size they play music with amazing scale. Instruments come across with vivid color, realistic size, and placed correctly in the sound field. Like the Lindemann BL-10 bookshelf speakers it’s hard to not talk about how good these speakers are for their size, but the truth is they are really good among speakers of any size.”

” Tapping into a more full fledge luxury vibe, the new flagship Neolith ($80k) from Martin and Logan barely fit into their room on the 4th floor. I have to admit the monolith-like Neolith had quite the sexy presentation regardless. I loved the blue hue, but the sales representative told me that it can also be colored to any classic car hue. So if you owned a candy red Lamborghini in your youth, you can recreate that awesomeness with a speaker finish and soak in the memories as you listen to Mozart from the 48″ x 22″ CLS XStat electrostatic high/mid driver and two woofers (15″ rear-firing and 12″ front facing). No word yet as to if they will do the “dirty Dodge Omni white” from my youth.”

YG ACOUSTICS HAILEY 1.2 LOUDSPEAKER $42,800 Review

” Another critical point about setup: A speaker this good and precise requires very careful setup to get the best trade-off in frequency response, soundstaging, and detail. Getting the best out of the Hailey means experimenting with placement and the finer details of toe-in and tilt. A really good dealer is going to spend at least an hour or two getting the floor position, speaker tilt and height, and fine-tuning of the listening position right. I suspect, however, that most serious audiophiles are going to spend several more weeks refining final adjustments to their taste.”

Fluance XL7F Floor Standing Loudspeaker $500 Review

” One of the reasons for going with a set of floor standing speakers with larger woofers is to fill a medium to large room. If you’re worried about whether or not these Fluance speakers can saturate a large space with sound, don’t be. I played them in a 24 x 30 foot room. I pumped up the volume and these guys cranked it out. I will say that at very high, painful SPLs the XL7Fs showed some chinks in their armor. As the volume got louder , they didn’t stay completely clean. For this price-point that’s really not a surprise. ”

” Changing the mood again with rapper-producer Earl Sweatshirt’s new album “I Don’t Like S%#*, I Don’t Go Outside” the buoyancy of the bass floored me. Deep bass extension was the sort you feel as much as hear.”

Concrete Audio N1 Review

May 22, 2015 Comments Off on Concrete Audio N1 Review

http://goo.gl/ze0pqA Read Here

” This is not a real review, it is an impression of the capabilities of the Concrete Audio N1 loudspeakers. I would need a couple of weeks with my own system, in my own room, to offer a more in-depth report. Nevertheless it was clear to me that this is a great system with enormous potential. The purity and low distortion levels of these loudspeakers are exceptional, probably mostly due to the cabinet material. The use of concrete is not new, for instance many Karlsson resonators were built in the past from concrete (as were Electrofluidics in the nineties.”
