“The Diamond Power Cord gets my recommendation if you are a believer that after market power cords make a real difference. If you do, go try one, I think you will likely end up keeping it. If you don’t, I do not believe this power cord will change your mind, but I doubt any power cord will. For me Core Power got a three for three. Great work Mark and team!
To wrap up, when speaking with Walter and Mark from Core Power, they both shared with me why they wanted to get into the cable business. They told me that they watched as cable prices soared over the past few years, and they wanted to bring value back to the consumer. While I was skeptical at first by their lower prices, after spending time with them I have come to the conclusion that they are well built, well designed, and priced right. I have left incredibly impressed, and will likely add more Core Power cables to my system over the next few months.”

Abbey Road Mastering Engineer Miles Showell Comments on Apollo/Transco Disaster

“On Thursday morning (February 6), the Banning, CA building housing Apollo/Transco Masters’ factory and storage space burned. By far the biggest of the world’s two lacquer master disc manufacturers, most of the world’s vinyl mastering facilities (especially smaller ones) relied upon Apollo/Transco blanks, as well as their cutting styli for Westrex cutting heads. Ruled a total loss, 82 firefighters battled the blaze’s toxic fumes; thankfully, there were no injuries (Banning is located in the Southern California desert, approximately 2.5 hours away from Los Angeles).”

“Next, I connected to my Synology NAS (Network Attached Storage) device by going to the “NAS Server” section of the Conductor Settings menu and tapping “Browse NAS Server” to find my NAS device. I selected my NAS from the list of servers found and entered my login credentials. Then I loaded some music files onto the Aurender’s internal hard disk drive by connecting a USB drive to one of the USB data ports on the back of the unit. Once connected, I selected the “Folder” tab from the top row of buttons displayed in the app and then selected “USB.” I then selected the folder I wanted to copy and tapped the “Copy To’ button, tapped the desired target folder on the Aurender, and then hit “Select” to initiate the copy process.
If desired, files can also be copied from a connected NAS device to the A100’s internal HDD by selecting the NAS folder in the Conductor app after logging into the NAS by the steps previously mentioned. According to Aurender, using the internal storage will deliver a better user experience because the system automatically scans internal storage for new content. Using a NAS is fine but a little more cumbersome. All in all, I found the Aurender setup and music file copy process to be straightforward enough that I was up and running in under 30 minutes.”

Stromtank S2500 Battery Power Supply Review
March 5, 2020 Comments Off on Stromtank S2500 Battery Power Supply Review
“There are a few words when describing the sonic results of using the Stromtank to power my system: astounding, awe-inspiring, awesome, amazing, astonishing, excellent, fantastic, glorious, magnificent, sensational, spectacular, splendid, terrific, and wonderful. As I said earlier, before the Stromtank arrived, only at nighttime could my system reach its potential. But with the Stromtank my system reached its full potential regardless of the time of day. Even though Stromtank’s literature promised it would make this improvement, it took me by surprise. Having my system sound the same both during the day and at night took some getting used to. In a good way.
The only “problem” I ran into was that I couldn’t connect my 350 Watt per channel Pass Laboratories X350.5 power amplifier to the Stromtank S2500 and play it at excessive volumes. If I did, the Stromtank would shut down because it would become over-heated. This only happened once during my time during the Stromtank’s audition period. After it shut down I had to wait a while so the Stromtank could cool down. After that the Stromtank operated perfectly, and I could listen to music again, being fully aware that if I was to connect my power amp to the Stromtank, I should be very careful about how high I turn the volume of my system, and for how long I listen to a louder than absolutely necessary. Otherwise, the Stromtank performed as advertised, and without any problems whatsoever.”
