The Core Power EQUI=CORE 1800 MK3 is a solid improvement over the previous MK2. The inclusion of the six gold plated copper duplexes by default and their new Wide Band Balanced Power Transformer made the unit perform better then I remembered the MK2 performing. In my testing, I was able to clearly hear a positive difference with the EQUI=CORE in my system, versus out of my system. I even loved it when it was combined with my PS Audio P12.
Power Conditioning and Conditioners can be incredibly expensive. I highly suggest that before you go out and spend a small fortune on a power conditioner, that you at least start with the Core Power EQUI=CORE 1800 MK3. It is candidly better then most products out there at its retail price, and keeps up with products 2—3x its retail price. Thank you as always Core Power and Underwood HiFi. It was a real pleasure reviewing your power conditioner.

The Audio Note UK Cobra didn’t scrimp on musical weight, which can be an issue with a relatively low-powered tube amplifier. Bass was always natural and full, with plenty of tangible edges around the notes. On 2L Recordings’ new Trio Mediaeval performance, An Old Hall Ladymass, I heard that weight even though we are talking mostly about a women’s choir backed by an organetto. When those voices are merged together, there should be an increase in the visceral impact of the music–we’re talking “strength in numbers” in its purest apparition.
That’s where the Audio Note UK Cobra made its personality clear–those pieces of music that represent two opposing performances, and how beauty can be found right at the intersection when they collide. That’s a result of the AN system capturing the energy of a performance and saving it for you to hear any time that you desire. This is a truly musical system–one that constantly celebrates the emotions behind the notes.

If you turn noise canceling off those numbers go up to 12 hours for the earbuds with 24 additional hours off the charging case, for 36 hours total! But the company is quick to note that performance will vary based on settings, environment, storage, usage, and that over time the capacity of the battery will degrade so Sony does not guarantee these numbers, but the point is that you do get a long playtime out of even a single charge, despite the diminutive size, more than enough for example to cover transcontinental flight.

Luxman’s L-507Z is a fabulous integrated amplifier. Its sound is beyond reproach, being at once linear and dynamic, highly engaging yet non-fatiguing. The Luxman is quiet, more muscular than its modest specs might otherwise indicate. Every track that I fed through the company’s new LIFES amplifier circuit thrilled me. Ally that with high-quality craftsmanship and superb levels of fit and finish for its price point, and it should come as no surprise that the L-507Z has quickly become one of my favorite amps of the last few years. Throw the soft glow of mechanical VU meters in the mix, and it’s clear to me that the Luxman integrated isn’t just great, it’s special. And for that reason, Luxman’s L-507Z is what I’d buy if I were in the market for a high-four-figure integrated amplifier.

Jacob was very proud of the responses he received with regard to the treble/mid performance of the speaker; unfatiguing and transparent. I can attest to this. The speaker, for all its demonstrative visuals, plays nicely with your room and presents a relaxed, musical picture from any repertoire. So the strings on the Argo Academy of St. Martin in the Fields LP of American music were controlled and balanced, especially in the thornier sections of Barber’s Adagio of Strings. Another Academy torture test, Alan Civil playing Mozart Horn Concertos was equally effortless, with the louder, brassier elements attenuated somewhat, but the conical bore of the horn and all its difficulties were handled pretty easily; no frequency shouts or other nasties.

Honestly, I feel for the specs, it would be an insane value at $99, $149 is just a maybe from me. Nothing at all wrong with the amp, just don’t hook up some massive tower speakers and it expect it to dance like I did. It’s a cool, very smooth little amp. If you’re looking to build a nice separates system for your desktop, it will fit in just right. This is some very good Schiit, although a bit pricy.

The TD3.8s are time-stealers. Often, while listening to them, an hour disappeared in seconds. Perhaps more than any other speakers I’ve auditioned at home, the TD3.8s made me want to turn off all the lights in the room, to be alone in the dark, transported by the music. Into the music. These speakers are lavish in both sonics and appearance—so, on second thought, leave those lights on. “Mindbendingly good” was one of the first notes I scribbled after I began playing music through them.
Copper wire was born when two Dutchmen fought over a penny, so, true to my birthplace, the Raidhos’ price gives me pause. In this ultraluxury range, I can think of other deeply impressive loudspeakers I’d put on my shortlist. The $76,000/pair Focal Maestro Utopia EVO springs to mind; the $94,000/pair Magico M3; the $91,000/pair MBL 101 E MKII Radialstrahler; even the tremendous Klipschorn Jubilee (for $87,500/pair you could go crazy, buy five, and put together the most bitchin’ Dolby rig ever, footnote 5) All these products are soul-stirring—and so are the TD3.8s.
