” The H150 worked fantastically out of whatever source I threw at it, but it did improve when I fed it more power. Out of the Hifiman HM-650, the bass sounded noticeably more controlled than out of my Galaxy Note 3.”

” The CMA800I offers HR and FIR filters while the CAS192 adds upsampling to 192k. For the purposes of this review I disengaged all filters and upsampling. Although I’m not a big fan of that type of technology in DACs anyway, all the systems in the review are on an even playing field.”

“Each product in the Sigma series is based on a small, standardized, and minimalist form factor. While Classé has shrunk the outer box, one look will tell you that these units have all the typical hallmarks and performance on paper that make them all Classé. Each component has exactly the same low-profile, custom-installer-friendly 2U chassis. ”
Parasound JC 3+ phono pre $3,000

” I fell hard for the original Parasound Halo JC 3 when it hit the market here in Malaysia some years back. I made the stretch to buy one and have been enjoying it since. As I’ve never been one fortunate enough to have a handful of different moving coil cartridges sitting ready to be mounted and played at any one time, and could not afford the exotic ones which were reputed to be particularly demanding of how they were loaded to give their best, the lack of MC loading options on the original JC 3, limited to either 47k or 100 Ohms, never really bothered me.”

” Treble extends well to the top, but not with heaps of energy or contrast against the lows. Well, that is with the foamies. With silicon tips, it is both contrastier and more energetic, but not by leaps and bounds. I reckon that treble heads will probably move to something with more of a U-shape or an obvious upper mid spike. ”

” The Hybrid EF100 goes for $499 or 499€. The amplifier, sound quality wise, is situated in Mid-Fi to me. Its tuning is fast, tight, clear and transparent and the 6N3J gives it just the right amount of warmth and smoothness. Do note the EF100 is not at all a warm sounding amplifier”
PSB IMAGINE X2T TOWER LOUDSPEAKER $1295 REVIEW

” The X2T’s primary strengths lie in the power range and the bass, where it can really turn heads. This little speaker delivers surprisingly dense tone color and hefty, extended low end—an unexpected feature in such a package at such a price point. Because bass is something audiophiles tend to drop big coin for, the X2T’s quality in the bottom octaves is a rare treat that absolutely sealed the deal for me. In definition and solidity, the X2Ts may not deliver the kind of bass you can sit on, but its bottom octaves are still unusually full, powerful, and nicely differentiated in pitch.”

” I received a pair of Thiel’s new TM3 stand mount monitors for review. They retail for $3498 a pair. The packaging is absolutely first class, even with white gloves included for smudge free handling! The TM3 is simply stunning out of the box. Its Rosewood finish is top class, and the construction is superb. The binding posts are also of excellent quality. The whole appearance is of a bespoke, classy product commensurate with its price and beyond. By the way, three other finishes are available, including Espresso, High Gloss Black, and High Gloss White.’
Benchmark Media Systems AHB2 Amplifier Review

“The result of all this, on the specification front, is damn near biblical. The AHB2 generates 100Wpc into 8 ohms or 190Wpc into 4 ohms, is stable down to 2 ohms, and manages 380W when configured for bridged mono. It delivers up to 18A of current, and has a damping factor that tops out at 350. Its total harmonic distortion plus noise is a claimed <0.0003% at 1kHz. The signal/noise ratio is an absurd 132dB in stereo, 135dB in bridged mono. The AHB2’s crosstalk is better than -115dB at 1kHz, and its frequency response exceeds 0.1Hz-200kHz, +0/-3dB"
Q ACOUSTICS CONCEPT 40 STEREO LOUDSPEAKERS REVIEW

” As with the Concept 20s, we had no doubt that the Concept 40s’ treble performance was the high point when we were listening. Its ability to reveal even the most microscopically small acoustic details in the upper treble region will make your jaw drop. To experience it, listen carefully to the shimmer after a drummer has hit a cymbal and let it ride… but the trick here is to listen not just to the sound of the cymbal but instead to the other high-frequency sounds being reproduced at the same time.”
