“The 2.5watts of pure class-A opens them up and let’s the deep bass and detail shine through. Satriani is one of the best guitar players in the world. His talent on this track is amazing. He takes a rock song and turns it into a guitar clinic. Listening through the Crimson, I can enjoy each carefully crafted note and chord. His bends and slides bring all their energy to me via the Crimson. Before I knew it I had listened to the entire album. ”

Pro-Ject Elemental – Review

” Unfortunately, the cost-cutting comes at a price and the Elemental is supplied sans any form of dust cover, leaving it exposed to the elements. Flicking off dust from its felt platter mat prior to every play becomes routine, but does nothing to prevent layers dust collecting on its exposed parts.”

Legacy Audio Studio HD Bookshelf Speaker $1795/pair

” I moved to focusing on low-frequency reproduction. I cued up “Another Country” by Cassandra Wilson from the free High Definition Audio Sampler available at HDtracks.com. With a frequency response rated flat down to 41Hz, I expected the Studio HD to hold their own, and the thrumming, low bass that bubbles below the verses was present, but not quite impactful. ”

“Comfort is good once you find the right tip, I started with the bi-flange tips but moved to my trusty Comply tips. I found these to work well with shallow and deep insertion, deep insertion felt more invasive but more secure, people with smaller ears might struggle with deep insertion due to the housings width as it puts pressure on the ear. I found these comfortable for long listening periods when I had a good seal, the memory wire is not an issue for me.”

” Streaming a 24/96 FLAC of Mark Knopfler’s Privateering via this setup shows that it doesn’t feel the pressure when partnered with kit picked from a few rungs further up the audiophile ladder. While I can clearly hear the contribution of the MF amps as they drive my speakers with greater authority than the Sony’s inbuilt amp can muster, the quality of its hi-res DAC shines through”

DigiBit Aria Music Server Review

” The Aria software comes with 18 metadata fields that you can use to describe your recordings; you can add as many other fields as you wish, or delete any you don’t need. Be aware that most CD-ripping programs and most download sites probably won’t automatically fill in these fields for you. The Aria’s ripping program does populate those fields as best it can, and it did a pretty good job. It has access to the AccurateRip database used by dBpoweramp, and the premium databases AMG, freedb, GD3, MusicBrainz, and SonataDB (Classical) — you’ll have a hard time finding a CD the Aria won’t recognize. You may recognize some of those databases as commercial, but worry not — the Aria comes with licenses for their use.

VPI Prime Turntable and JMW 3D Tonearm Review

” The overall sound, octave to octave, is very linear with no highlighting of any small frequency range. Notes flow up and down the scale properly, and in correct relative proportion to other frequency ranges. The Prime does not sound warm or cool, just neutral with a touch of liveliness that does not include any hint of harshness or overreaching brightness.”

Martin Logan ElectroMotion ESL Speaker REVIEW

” ’m a bit of a bass-hound, so if I was in the market to purchase a pair of Martin Logan’s ElectroMotion ESLs I would add a sub, but in truth if I had the cash, I’d go for one of the company’s bigger (and reputedly even better) speakers. That said, these floorstanders are gobsmackingly good, and have the kind of beautifully detailed sound image that a hi-fi seeker-of-audio-truth could easily end up forking out 20 to 30 grand for.

” The rear panel features controls for the crossover point, phase alignment and level, so the sub can be used in a variety of settings. Bryston says the Model A is equally suited for use in a home theatre or hi-fi system. The cabinet, made of three-quarter-inch MDF, has dual rear-facing ports”.
