” One final aspect of the deck caused my audio antennae to twitch. Most manufacturers (and most of us) dispensed with the sort of heavy rubber record mat fitted to the Langer many, many moons ago. At least this one is flat rather than patterned and profiled, and I spent quite some time listening with it in place, as I grew accustomed to the sound of the deck. But the longer I listened, the more tempting it became to experiment with alternative mats.”
