Degritter Mark II Ultrasonic Record Cleaning Machine Review
August 19, 2026 § Leave a comment
Degritter RCMs operate at an ultrasonic frequency of 120kHz and deliver 300W of power to its four ultrasonic transducers. These transducers are mounted facing the vinyl surface. (See the above illustration, which shows the four ultrasonic transducers placed on both sides of the record.)
An active water filtering system continually cleans the debris in the water; picture a pool skimmer running during the wash cycle. (See the illustration below, which shows an active water filtration system.) Given the amount of energy introduced into the liquid by ultrasonic cavitation, a cooling sequence will engage if the water gets warmer than 35°C (95°F) to prevent record warping, lengthening the cleaning cycle by a few minutes. The final step in the cleaning process is forced-air drying, which is intended to deliver a dry record at the end of the process.
