Q Acoustics 3050 And Concept 40 Loudspeakers $$1200 Review
August 12, 2016 Comments Off on Q Acoustics 3050 And Concept 40 Loudspeakers $$1200 Review
For $1200, one gets floorstanding speaker with a pair of five inch woofers and a one-inch tweeter, a cabinet that is free of audible resonances, can be driven by a low-powered amplifier, integrated amp, or receiver, is full-range, and performs well-outside its price-class with its rather neutral, musical sound. The Q Acoustics Concept 40 is not only a bargain; it is a darn good speaker.”

“Although bass is pleasing – not only solid and taut, but fairly deep and agile too – it’s not the star of the show. That’s the midrange, which is one of the most focused and pure we’ve heard at this level.”

Kharma Elegance dB9-S Loudspeakers $37,500 Review
August 10, 2016 Comments Off on Kharma Elegance dB9-S Loudspeakers $37,500 Review
“The industrial design of the Kharma Elegance dB9-S will appeal to the buyer who wants to be reminded of the luxury nature of high-end audio. The speaker’s tasteful appearance and reasonable size are augmented by numerous design flourishes, such as the chrome ring that separates the bottom panel of the speaker from the vertical panels that form the cabinet proper — unostentatious reminders that these speakers cost $37,500/pair. Of course, you’ll get an even better idea of what you’ve paid for when you fire them up and start listening to your favorite music.”

PSB Imagine T3 loudspeaker Review

” I recently purchased the hi-rez digital transfers of Keith Jarrett’s The Kîln Concert (24/96 ALAC files, ECM/HDtracks), so that I could compare them with the MQA versions in a future review. Well-recorded solo piano is always difficult for speakers to reproduce correctly, because piano notes have high levels of energy in the region where speakers have resonances of various kinds, and because the nature of the music often doesn’t mask those resonances once they have been excited. This essential Keith Jarrett album does have a rather close balance, but it sounded superb through the PSBs. I couldn’t hear anything untoward in the midrange, other than a faint whistle when I put my ear close to the uppermost ports on the enclosure’s rear. I returned to this album after taking the T3’s measurements, and found a high-Q resonance in the top and middle port outputs that must be associated with what I heard. However, back at the listening position, even after I knew the resonance was present, I still couldn’t hear that it had any noticeable effect on the sound of Jarrett’s piano.”

Paradigm Prestige 75F Loudspeaker $3,000 Review
August 7, 2016 Comments Off on Paradigm Prestige 75F Loudspeaker $3,000 Review
” Paradigm’s Prestige 75F tower is a gorgeous piece of craftsmanship and a true work of art. The intense care and attention to detail that went into building these speakers radia= tes like an aura around each one. Remarkably, the combination of subtlety, power, and detail makes the beautiful cabinets dematerialize into an exceptionally wide, ethereal soundstage that’s rare to find in a pair of towers at this price. At $3,000 for a pair, the 75Fs aren’t cheap, but the elevated visuals and ambrosial sonics are worth their weight in gold.”

Kaiser Acoustics Chiara speakers EUR 22.000 Review
August 6, 2016 Comments Off on Kaiser Acoustics Chiara speakers EUR 22.000 Review
“Anyone is free to spend their hard earn money. No questions asked. What I’m putting forward as the food for the thought is the real reference and sound orientation. There is no question in my book of leafs for what should stand as the the one and only guidance. Music! Pure, unaltered, uncompress and as raw as it gets. Comparing some of the speakers with live, un-amplified, acoustical music recorded in the natural acoustic space is not only frustrating, but completely wrongly oriented. As, we’re following the robotic language of automatons rather then poetic, lyrical and tuneful nature of the music. Something is lost in the translation with many of the contemporary speakers.”

MONITOR AUDIO GOLD 300 LOUDSPEAKER $5699 REVIEW
August 3, 2016 Comments Off on MONITOR AUDIO GOLD 300 LOUDSPEAKER $5699 REVIEW
” Another important sonic consideration here is the Gold 300’s ribbon tweeter boasting remarkable range (per the specs) versus the Aria 948’s aluminum/magnesium TMF inverted-dome, which can walk a fine line between clean, razor-sharp precision and slightly brighter beaminess in the treble. (Bear in mind these comments are meant to be broad-stroke, at-a-glance comparisons. I recommend doing plenty of listening before buying.) Finally, from an aesthetics angle, they’re certainly both luxurious-looking, no matter which finishes you choose. The Aria 948 is more elegantly austere and slightly understated with its classic wood veneer, while the Gold 300 is more streamlined, slick, and shiny—more along the lines of a sexy car.”

Audiosmile LBM – Little British Monitor Review
August 1, 2016 Comments Off on Audiosmile LBM – Little British Monitor Review
“for PC desktop listening I connected them direct to the 3.5mm stereo lineout of the Geek Out 1000 / PC DAC. I placed them 26″ from each other with my 23″ monitor between and 27″ away from my ears. On initial listen, the LBM sounds positively cohesive even at arm’s length away on the desk. Vocals were full and music transients reproduced quite well. Natalie Cole’s duet with Diana Krall Better than Anything throws a convincing soundstage in front of you with solid imaging. Natalie croons at my 1 o’clock whilst Diana sides opposite her somewhat closer at 11 o’clock.”
