“Treble is incredibly detailed, layered and extended. Bad recordings in combination with a silver cable sometimes result in a bit of sibilance but in general the HE-1000’s treble perfectly complements the bass and mids. Treble flows fluently from the mids with great clarity and precision. Treble is airy but precise and very dynamic. I do have to say I preferred the HE-1000’s treble with warmer sounding solid state amplifiers and on tubes.”

“Sub bass on the Wizard Savant is good but not dominating with a slight roll off right at the bottom, the main punch comes from that 50-100hz area so EDM and hard rock will benefit most from the Savants richer bass line and orchestral sub bass drum work might lose out. It is horses for courses really between the two and as before I felt the Classic 4 couldn’t deliver the bass vibe and feel of modern rock and pop the Savant really can.”

” Since the CDM is such a versatile device, there are several options which can be utilized to enhance the already fantastic sound. Firstly, the use of the balanced inputs with a compatible headphone can further increase soundstage dimensions and texture within tracks. Since the balanced cable has supposedly less resistance, the potentiometer does not need to be turned up as high to get a satisfactory headroom performance. I would highly recommend buyers to invest in a headphone with a balanced cable to truly get the best out of this special device.’

This combination of materials meant that there was very little noise, if any, from the cable. The RHA S500i is of course the model that features an inline microphone and control set and during the course of the review it was found to offer excellent call quality. The earbud microphone and control is made of the same aluminium found on the earpieces, its rock solid”

” The Hifiman HE1000 soundstage is large and precise. The Telos and HE1000 were synergistic and a excellent match. The Telos was able to get the best out of the HE1000 and brought out everything the headphone had to offer. Art Pepper’s saxophone came alive on “Move” from “+11’’, Art was located in the center and each musician was in their own defined space with excellent separation. Each instrument had sufficient air and created a 3D image within the soundstage. Closing my eyes I could identify every musician in the stage easily.The Telos involvement with the music was as good as I have heard in any combination. The listening sessions sometimes went over a 10 hour period and never did I feel any distractions while listening. The music was involving and non fatiguing. ”

” The new 100 ohm Audeze LCD-4 turned over plenty of volume from the device, as did the hard-to-drive 300-ohm Sennheiser HD650. Listening to Jason Mraz track 93 Million Miles it was easy to pick out texture separation from Jason’s voice and the rest of the audio spectrum. The depth and dimensionality of his voice at 24/96 during the lighthearted entry verse seemed 93 million miles away from the crackle of a iPod headphone playing crinkled low resolution MP3’s”
