LINN MAJIK LP12 TURNTABLE SYSTEM REVIEW
August 22, 2015 Comments Off on LINN MAJIK LP12 TURNTABLE SYSTEM REVIEW
“The Majik LP12 is also a great leveller of LPs. Those carefully massaged 180g virgin vinyl albums sound good, but so do the bin-end charity store discount specials. The difference between worst and best album in your collection is made less immediately noticeable. That being said, good vinyl still sounds very good on the Majik LP12, but lacks that absolute ‘warts ‘n’ all’ function of über-turntables to extract all there is to extract from the vinyl. At least, at the Majik level: what the LP12 extracts at this point is the musical marrow, but there is more to extract. In part, this is what the Upgrade Path is about.”
Pylon Audio Loudspeakers SAPPHIRE 25 – Review
August 22, 2015 Comments Off on Pylon Audio Loudspeakers SAPPHIRE 25 – Review
“This is a bass-reflex design with a single port placed on the back of the cabinet. Peaking inside I saw no damping, only some reinforcement to make cabinet more rigid. Even though Sapphire 25 seem inexpensive they are part of the top line of this manufacturer. Manufacturer chose high quality elements for its crossover—polypropylene capacitors and air coils for tweeter section and core coil for bass section.”
Onkyo’s A-9010 amp Review
August 22, 2015 Comments Off on Onkyo’s A-9010 amp Review
“The A-9010 sounded clean and clear with music and movies, even when I pushed the volume way up. I played a few LPs on a Pioneer PL-30-K turntable, first with the turntable’s built-in phono preamp, which sounded fine. But when I turned that off and switched over to the A-9010’s phono preamp, the sound grew more dynamic and the bass filled out.”

EarWerkz Legend-R custom in-ear Review
August 21, 2015 Comments Off on EarWerkz Legend-R custom in-ear Review
” While there are basic differences in note presentation, as the Legend-R articulates details more, bringing them to the forefront, both have a natural tonality. Spatially the SE5U is larger and more open, which is in part due to the presentation perspective, but the SE5U is superior in focus within the soundstage for a cleaner overall render. Detail levels are similar, but the SE5U recreates more of the spatial queues with a higher overall resolution.”
Sumiko S.9 Subwoofer Reviewed
August 21, 2015 Comments Off on Sumiko S.9 Subwoofer Reviewed
“Basically, the S.9 made the F206s sound like the larger Revel F208s, although with smoother bass response because I was free to position the sub in the spot where it works best with my room acoustics. I found that, with music, the S.9 had enough muscle to do what I wanted it to do. Now, I didn’t put on the latest Kanye West album and crank the system to the max, but I did put on the recording of the Saint-Säens “Organ Symphony” from the Boston Audio Society Test CD 1, which has deep pipe-organ tones reaching down to 16 Hz. Not surprisingly, the 10-inch S.9 couldn’t handle the deepest tones the way a good 15-inch sub can, but it did reproduce them at a modest level without apparent distortion. When I clicked the AVA ABX box’s remote to go back to the F206s on their own, the tones disappeared entirely.”

” To boost audio playback, Sony’s added a couple of sound-enhancing technologies to the ZX2. DSEE HX claims to upscale normal music to ‘near high-resolution’ sound quality.”
Gradient 6.0 Review
August 21, 2015 Comments Off on Gradient 6.0 Review
“Apart from these details, I think that 6.0 are fantastic, user-friendly and extremely graceful speakers, which seem to be ideal for small and medium-sized spaces. After five minutes I began to think that if I didn’t review speakers, amps, cables and DACs, I would consider buying 6.0, combined with Cyrus Lyric 09 or Naim SuperUniti… But everything would depend on whether these lightweight boxes can really play well”
