” . This is not to take anything away from the DAC3 Engine option, though, as I think it arguably adds a huge amount of high-level digital functionality for not an awful lot of money. In side-by-side comparisons with the AURALiC VEGA Digital Audio Processor, I found I narrowly preferred the VEGA to the Moon DAC3 Engine, although the performance gap was narrow enough that I could happily have lived with either one on a long-term basis”

Aurender N100H Music Player Review

‘” The Aurender N100H is a hybrid component capable of being a caching network player streaming from a NAS and / or a music server with local storage. Add in the fact that it can stream lossless music from TIDAL’s vast library, music lovers shouldn’t run out of options with the N100H. At just $200 more than the standard N100, upgrading to the H model seems like a no brainer for most consumers. The 2TB of storage is either very useful now, or may become useful depending on one’s circumstances in the future”

Noble Savant in-ear headphones Review

” The Savant’s strengths are best appreciated with good quality recordings, over-compressed and harsh sounding MP3s sounded compressed and harsh. Ah, but when I played Antonio Sanchez’ drum solos on the “Birdman” soundtrack the Savant delivered the goods. The tom-tom drums solidity and power were incredibly natural, each beat was clear as can be; and cymbal crashes sounded like the real thing.”

Pear Audio Blue Kid Howard turntable & Cornet 2 tonearm

” Once I got the hang of how much thumb pressure equaled how much travel fore or aft, this was quite easy. Less than easy was adjusting the height of the Cornet 2: Because the tonearm mount is of such large diameter, and because it’s made without an upper collet of any sort, the grub screw that secures the arm pillar is snugged into the far end of a recess unusually deep, even given the oblique angle at which the recess was machined. Because that screw is nonetheless quite short, and because it’s made of nylon rather than metal, it was the very dickens to turn. Proponents of making fasteners “Linn-tight,” an inclination on which I’ll withhold judgment, will be confounded.”

ESTELON XB $35,900 REVIEW

” The trick is to use virtually no toe-in. This isn’t a hardship, since the XB requires none to produce stellar imaging. Also, be sure to employ the supplied spikes. They’re not your run-of-the-mill doohickeys, but rather an integral part of the system. They do a commendable job of soothing the highs so you can focus on hearing what and how the musicians are playing. ”

” The description Vision Ears gives of the VE5 is: “Crystal-clear, airy highs result in a stunningly open sound. Powerful presence in the high-mids gives a great vocal-reproduction. Outstanding clarity and precision in combination with great resolution over the whole frequency-range”. And that is a pretty correct description.”

” Its dynamic range, noise, crosstalk, and THD measure (in closed IN-OUT benchmarks) near the limits of commercially available measuring equipment is able to record. It is necessary to say that the theoretical limits of even 44kHz 24-bit audio go well beyond what’s possible through any commercially viable DAC.

Violectric V281 Headphone Amplifier Review

” it’s not purely a numbers game. The Schiit Lyr for example is very potent but doesn’t come anywhere near this level. It’s great for what it is but just can’t match a Bryston BHA-1 or Schiit Mjolnir, much less the V281. If raw power alone was the criteria we’d all be running the HE-6 from speaker amps. I’ve done so myself and know a few people who swear by it. All I can say is, I have here a few rather nice amps here at the moment including an Anthem A2, a BAT VK-220, and a pair of Merrill Audio Thor monoblocks. Each of these amps is a powerhouse, sounding great with the HE-6. Yet none do anything amazing that I don’t already get with the V281. Color me impressed.”
