Lorenzo Audio Labs LM1 Loudspeakers $200,000 Review
December 30, 2024 Comments Off on Lorenzo Audio Labs LM1 Loudspeakers $200,000 Review
The LM1s are world-class cost-no-object loudspeakers in every way. The LM1s embody an achievement in design, engineering, craftmanship, and most of all, sonic performance. Lorenzo Audio Labs set a high benchmark for all others to be measured against. Sonically speaking in my system, the LM1 are as good as it gets. My twenty-five plus years audio search for reference loudspeakers is over. Regardless of cost, I told Visintainer that I’m keeping the review pair and wrote him a check. Hats off to Miguel Lorenzo Castro for creating this masterpiece.

European Audio Team Fortissimo S Turntable and F-Note Tonearm Review

Then there’s the Fortissimo S, from European Audio Team. It’s a Bentley Continental GT: sleek and elegant in its own boxy way, but also larger than life. Hugely powerful, but undeniably elegant. Fat tires, squat to the road with unlimited torque, but so comfortable and silent that you don’t even know it’s running.
That said, visuals out of the way, from a sound-quality perspective, both the VPI and the EAT radiate neutrality and control, sounding more alike than they do different. The Fortissimo S edges out the VPI in its control of transients and isolation from vibration. A knuckle rap on my well-damped equipment rack elicits a clear thump from the VPI and absolute silence from the EAT. Those magnetic feet really do the trick.

Magico S2 Speakers

The S2’s three-way Elliptical Symmetry Crossover (ESXO) is a topology of rare distinction. The crossover is implemented with an acoustical-target 24dB-slope using a Linkwitz-Riley filter.
Maximum frequency and phase linearity is accomplished, while keeping intermodulation distortion to vanishing levels. The S2 uses a full complement of state-of-the-art components from Mundorf of Germany, including M-Resist Ultra foil resistors, which deliver greater power handling, increased transparency, and more sonic liquidity than previous components. New is the copper foil paper coil, which improves the noise floor by reducing microphonic effects. The result of the S2’s ESXO crossover is superior coherence from the speaker’s four drive units.

Vivid Audio Moya M1 Loudspeaker Review

Lastly, the M1 simply sounds right. This is perhaps the hardest aspect of its performance to describe in meaningful impressionistic terms, but a quality that most listeners will hear and appreciate immediately. I think that this sense of “rightness” owes to the system’s remarkable dynamic composure and expressiveness, its cutting-edge transparency, its impressive tonal and timbral accuracy, and the superb inner-driver coherence that belies the M1’s multi-driver architecture. Like the great alchemists of centuries past, Dickie and his stalwart design team have managed to tease out of wood, carbon, aluminum, and steel something that resembles flesh and blood performers in the room. The results are simply stunning.

HIFIMAN HE1000 UNVEILED $2699 Review
December 28, 2024 Comments Off on HIFIMAN HE1000 UNVEILED $2699 Review
Anyone who has listened to the HE1000 series headphones will recognize the bright aspects of their presentation. However, the HE1000 UNVEILED produces a more balanced sound signature with a flatter frequency response in certain regions compared to past iterations within this series.
I rarely get a set of headphones that once I have heard them I cannot put them down. The HIFIMAN HE1000 UNVEILED did exactly that to me. It seems that the uncovered driver implementation allows the driver to breathe freely and this in turn produces a natural timbre that’s sonically accurate.
