The WiiM app is the central control hub for the amp, supporting an extensive array of music services, including Amazon Music, BBC Radio, Calm Radio, Deezer, Napster, Pandora, QQMusic, Qobuz, Radio Paradise, SoundCloud, SoundMachine, Spotify, TIDAL, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, and vTuner. This broad compatibility ensures access to a wide variety of music sources, both popular and niche, without being restricted to a particular ecosystem. The app also functions as a media server when connected to a network music library, indexing downloaded music for easy management and playback directly from a computer or NAS drive. The interface of the app facilitates straightforward navigation through the play queue and other music selections, with simple adjustments to audio settings and preferences to personalize the sound.

Thales TTT-Compact II Turntable System Reviews

The Swiss know how to make high-quality, compact machines. They own the high-end automatic watch market, right? Every year, a Swiss manufacturer like Audemars Piguet brings out a new complication—movement—that contains even more parts, does more crazy computations, that never needs resetting for leap years, the orbit of Neptune, Easter, all that stuff. I own an Omega Speedmaster watch, and it doesn’t do any real tricks. It’s a NASA-approved chronograph, so I can time my steaks superbly to ensure they’re medium rare every time, but other than that, all it does is tell the time with great accuracy. I have seen this watch with the back cover removed, and there’s a whole world in there—gears, levers, springs—all manufactured with insane precision. Switzerland is the land of miniaturization.

PS Audio AirLens Music Streamer 1999 Review

July 2, 2024 Comments Off on PS Audio AirLens Music Streamer 1999 Review

And how did the AirLens do with different DACs? When I compared them, I could hear a thin sound but clear sound with the Cambridge Audio DAC-Magic200—the streamer handles itself but is “too clean and bashful”. When I connected the Wiim Pro Plus it was a “crisp-shouting” sound. I used the DAC from the Wiim Pro Plus, but I also compared it as a streamer (to the Stellar Strata) and here it lacked substance—the non-naturalness, and digital quality were there. But when I connected the AirLens to the Stellar Strata the sound was alive, full, and pleasant to the ear, separation yes, but more so a laid-back sound, clean as well. It’s difficult to describe a specific characteristic of the AirLens, but it is warmer than I expected. I thought it would be more on the neutral side, but no, and I’m not complaining.

PureAudioProject Quintet15 with Voxativ AC-X field-coil open-baffle loudspeaker system $20,990 Review

Most audiophiles crave a beautiful loudspeaker cabinet that compliments the interior décor. Ze’ev is aware of this and thus his speakers are available in different front panel finishes. I was asked about my color preference, and I indicated “red.” The pair submitted for review is painted in pumpkin red. If you want your pair to be in red and not of the pumpkin variety, be sure to specify “intense red” or “wine” red. Hope it’s not gonna make Ze’ev and his team pull their hair out.

Standing over six feet tall and arching towards the listener, the PAP Quintet15 Voxativ AC-X is taller than the 72 inches tall Sound Lab Majestic 645 that I reviewed in 2020, and the contrast couldn’t be more striking between the two, in which one system uses just one lone albeit powerful seven-inch full-range driver and accompanied by four 15-inch woofers, versus one that utilizes a large canvas of a radiating area of a panel. Interestingly, both designs feature no magnets and operate on externally energized principles.

Gordon Simmonds, CEO of LMG parent company The Lenbrook Group, added: “These developments confirm our instincts around this team and the value of the IP. While the choice and accessibility of MQA content remains a priority for us, this was never about a single codec.”

“We are inspired by the reactions of our partners who are incorporating these technologies into their products,” said Mike Jbara, vice president and general manager of Lenbrook Media Group. “This is a milestone moment for us.
