As requested by many, here is update on the replication project of the Western Electric 13a and 12a horn speakers by Homin Kim’s (Silbatone Acoustics) friend, a well-known sculptor.

To sum up, I am very impressed with the performance of the Legacy i∙V7 Class D seven-channel power amplifier. Its efficiency allows the amplifier to output very high wattage in several channels at the same time without blowing a wall socket fuse. You would not be outputting 600 watts in all seven channels for more than a fraction of a second during dynamic peaks. Distortion is well controlled.
I think this technology is the future for surround sound amplifiers. If I were setting up a new home theater surround sound system, I would get this amplifier without hesitation. I would use it for the center channel and all the surround channels, including two height channels in the front. I would use a Class A or Class A/B amplifier for the front left and right channels since I would be using those channels for listening to stereo music.

As usual I let the amps run in the back ground for a week to let them gel with my system. I do this with every single piece of gear to make sure it is well burned in, has at least a reasonable symbiosis with the rest of my gear, and to decide which of my speakers is best to utilize during the serious listening and critical reviewing period.
After a week or so everything seemed to gel in just fine, and I stayed with the VR4s for the review. I did run the Sonists a bit just for thrills, and overall it was a good match, but since they only plumb down to 40Hz, those hours were not logged for the review, but the AGD Audions would do well in a system with 95dB sensitivity if my experience was anything to go by.

At $399, Pro-Ject Audio Systems’ T1 Phono SB is an easy recommendation. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. It’s an excellent starter bundle—and, when you’re ready for an upgrade and funds permit, Pro-Ject offers many more turntables higher in its model hierarchy. Not only is it visually attractive, it performed amazingly well with a variety of music, and had me pulling out LP after LP, to hear how each would sound played on the T1 Phono SB. Not once was I disappointed. In fact, I was downright impressed.

With the SabrinaX’s in the house, I smiled whenever I thought about the last time I’d listened to music and looked forward to the next time I’d be able to. I would truly be happy if everything stayed the way it is: room, system, records, even my chair and the light standing next to it. Seriously, just leave it all right where it is. I’ve heard more mega-systems than I can count, including $1,000,000 worth of Wilson WAMM Master Chronosonic. Yeah, some of them are better than the SabrinaX, but it would be a pain to move them and set everything up in my room.
Nothing is perfect though, not even the SabrinaX. John Atkinson’s measurements will tell all, but I have a hunch that the SabrinaX may be just a little on the warm, forgiving side of absolute neutrality. Maybe there’s a bit of a rise in the midbass to the upper bass. And maybe, just maybe, the upper midrange is down a a little bit compared to the frequencies on either side. Keep in mind that I have a small, well-damped room and tube amps. Your results may vary.

Norma HS-IPA1 integrated amplifier
The Norma HS-IPA combines more functions than most in its compact frame, I don’t think that there are many alternatives that offer the same now that the majority concentrate on digital features. And not many of them have the sort of power that this does. In this light it’s ergonomic foibles can be forgiven, they are essentially a matter of familiarity really and that comes pretty quickly. Partnered with the right speaker this is a very capable and entertaining amplifier especially for those with a decent turntable and cartridge.
