Questyle CMA800R Headphone Amplifier Review
April 12, 2017 Comments Off on Questyle CMA800R Headphone Amplifier Review
“With rock music like Icelandic rock band Kaleo’s “Way Down We Go” from their album A/B (16-bit/88.2-kHz, TIDAL MQA Master), the bass was tight and with greater weight than I’m used to through the HD800 cans. For those who are of the opinion that the HD800 phones have thinness to their bass, one listen with the CMA800R will prove otherwise. The Sennheiser HD800 phones have never sounded as balanced as they did with the CMA800R, and I found this to be true with every music genre I listened to, including very dynamic classical and bass-heavy hip hop.”

IBASSO PB3 MOCKINGBIRD $200 REVIEW
April 12, 2017 Comments Off on IBASSO PB3 MOCKINGBIRD $200 REVIEW
“This is an IEM that needs good current to get the best out of its dynamic driver and produce some seriously excellent sub-bass performances and the PB3 delivers. If anything balanced it just a bit more “in your face” compared to the unbalanced output which has a slightly more neutral “standoff” staging across the board.”

Aries Cerat Diana Forte Stereo Power Amplifier $27,500 Review
April 11, 2017 Comments Off on Aries Cerat Diana Forte Stereo Power Amplifier $27,500 Review
“I was excited to have the opportunity to review the Aries Cerat Diana Forte power amplifier. Yet, at the same time, I wasn’t very excited about it. My main speakers are certainly not the type that welcome relatively low-powered tube amps, even if this amp might the highest-powered stereo SET amp on the market. I’ll remind readers that I said I would nominate both Aries Cerat owner/engineer Stravos Danos and Aries Cerat’s US distributor Believe High Fidelity’s Joshua Masongsong for a Nobel Prize if the Diana Forte amp sounded as good as Joshua said it would though my large electrostatic speakers.”

DENON AH D7200 – Review
April 11, 2017 Comments Off on DENON AH D7200 – Review
“Well folks, Denon is back in the game and ready to make a huge splash once again in the headphone community. The D7200 is a spectacular headphone and I could end this review right now but for those who like the fine print please read on. The stellar midrange delivers an accurate and balanced sound, the bass while thunderous is never overpowering and among the finest bass in any transducer manufactured today. ”

Hartvig TT turntable, Ikeda tonearm and MC cartridge Review
April 10, 2017 Comments Off on Hartvig TT turntable, Ikeda tonearm and MC cartridge Review
“The $14k Hartvig TT belt-drive turntable system’s construction and use of materials, such as a MDF and acrylic-sandwiched plinth, a 2-inch acrylic platter over another 2-inch of aluminum platter are exotic and impressive and serves remarkably as the foundation of a high-end system. This construction exoticness and total turntable mass makes the Hartvig notable amongst similarly priced, substantial turntable designs although it’s highly economical footprint does make for a polarized appeal. By the same token, its ability to assume a pure, non-intrusive sonic footprint, however, is remarkable for the size. ”

Emotiva BasX A-100 stereo integrated amp Review $229
April 10, 2017 Comments Off on Emotiva BasX A-100 stereo integrated amp Review $229
“I was eager to try a few headphones with the BasX A-100, and started with my Audeze Sines. I usually listen to the Sines plugged into my iPhone 6S, but here with the BasX A-100 the Sine’s soundstage bloomed, and dynamic punch much improved. I experienced similar epiphanies with my Grado SR325e headphones. The BasX A-100 is one heck of a good-sounding $229 headphone amp.”

REVEL CONCERTA2 F36 TOWER SPEAKERS REVIEW
April 9, 2017 Comments Off on REVEL CONCERTA2 F36 TOWER SPEAKERS REVIEW
” But then, a well-designed speaker SHOULD sound good with everything. When someone says a certain speaker isn’t a good Rock speaker, they usually mean that they are not dynamic or perhaps are too bass-shy. That is certainly not the case with the F36s. They are full range and do not necessarily need subwoofer augmentation. If a speaker can’t get the bass right, the whole thing fails sonically. If you are looking for a “do it all” speaker for a nice simple stereo setup, the Concerta2 F36s should met your requirements.”
