Aurum Cantus V7F Floorstanding Speaker Review
December 10, 2016 Comments Off on Aurum Cantus V7F Floorstanding Speaker Review
” Of course, its appearance means nothing if the V7F doesn’t perform at a high level…but it does–offering reference-level transparency/resolution, truth in timbres/tonality, terrific soundstaging/imaging, excellent overall dynamics/punch, and detailed yet sweet top-end extension. It’s simply a fantastic performer for $3,500/pair–and remember, you also get to have a 60-day grace period for home auditions. The ultimate compliment a reviewer can give to a product is if they purchase it for their own system, and that’s exactly what I did. The V7F is now my new reference speaker for in my smaller upstairs system.”

Wells Audio Milo Headphone Amplifier Review

” Imaging is similarly precise, surely aided by the fantastic transient response. Cranking up Neil Peart’s famous drum solo from Rush’s Moving Pictures classic “Tom Sawyer”, I was able to pick out the individual locations of the cymbals in Peart’s kit with a stunning degree of accuracy. The soundscape width and height are also quite good, leaving plenty of room for all the sounds to layer in neatly together. The depth is well above average too, relative to other solid state options at the price point. Combined, they form a well-balanced and spacious soundscape, an open stage with a three-dimensional shape that didn’t feel like it was off in any one direction.”

Linear Tube Audio MicroZOTL2.0 Tube Headphone Amp $1,100 Review
December 9, 2016 Comments Off on Linear Tube Audio MicroZOTL2.0 Tube Headphone Amp $1,100 Review
“The MicroZOTL2.0 is also unusual in that it generates very little heat and owing to the low-stress design enjoys a 10,000 hour tube life. It must also be noted that with tube rolling, the sound characteristics of the MicroZOTL2.0 are susceptible to change with various accounts claiming for the better. Having not tested any of the NOS tubes myself, though, it is difficult to recommend any.”

Questyle QP1R Portable Audio Player Reviewed
December 9, 2016 Comments Off on Questyle QP1R Portable Audio Player Reviewed
” The Questyle QP1R is a no-frills music player that delivers excellent audio quality. I could easily hear the differences between my Audeze and Sennheiser headphones, and the QP1R delivered much of the amplification performance of the desktop CMA800i DAC/headphone amplifier. The desktop unit had a bit more punch and control with the larger headphones; however, with the more sensitive IEMs, the QP1R kept pace with its bigger brother.”

CUSTOM ART HARMONY 8.2 $1100 REVIEW
December 9, 2016 Comments Off on CUSTOM ART HARMONY 8.2 $1100 REVIEW
” In the treble department, Savanna S sounds more airy and prominent notes, while H8.2 has laid-back treble notes. Savanna S seems to articulate details more, but it is colored and slightly thin in comparison. Although the resolution levels are similar, H8.2 betters Savanna S in the fast metal tracks.”

Tannoy Eclipse Three Loudspeakers – Review
December 8, 2016 Comments Off on Tannoy Eclipse Three Loudspeakers – Review
” Timing and rhythm plays a good part of the likable characteristics of the Tannoy Eclipse Three, along with a sweet, deep and controlled bass. For £299 these speakers do a great job of playing music “musically”, they are fun and even in what they portray, and never offend. The high and low frequencies marry well and don’t leave you feeling like there is something missing or un-natural. Fed with a good source material these won’t disappoint.”

AAVIK U-300 UNITY INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER £20,000 REVIEW
December 8, 2016 Comments Off on AAVIK U-300 UNITY INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER £20,000 REVIEW
” There are few downsides, although they are more niggles and observations. Sonically, the dynamic range of the Aavik, although wide, is not quite as authentic and edge-of-the-seat as some of the best valve amplifiers out there. However, in terms of solid-state designs, the U-300 Unity is hard to beat. Trivially, a balance control would be nice, but might undermine the minimalism of the overall project as it might require its own button. The ability to process high-resolution to 24/192 might prove limiting in an audiophile world obsessed by 32/384 and DSD files – I hope this is not the case, because I’d rather choose an amp that sounded this good over the (often undefined) promise of superior sound quality from ever higher resolutions.”

NOBLE AUDIO SAVANT CUSTOM-FIT IN-EAR MONITORS – REVIEW
December 8, 2016 Comments Off on NOBLE AUDIO SAVANT CUSTOM-FIT IN-EAR MONITORS – REVIEW
” Is the Savant a true top-tier heavyweight? In a word, yes. I found the Savant was fully competitive with top models from firms such as JH Audio, Ultimate Ears, and Westone. But what sets the Savant apart from its competitors are its uncanny cohesiveness, detail, dynamics, and the rare ability to pull listeners out of their ‘heads’ and into the music. For these reasons and more, the Savant has now become one of my preferred, go-to, in-ear references.”
