HECO Music Style 200 Loudspeakers Review

” The Music Style 200s put up an impressive performance. They have exemplary midrange (especially the upper mid) and treble performance, viewed in their entry level context. The smoothness and control they displayed in these regions would allow many hours of fatigue free music enjoyment. They sounded very open. They portrayed dynamic contrast very well. Furthermore. fast and rhythmic music did not trip them up (try some jazz), so musical proceedings did not get draggy or boring at all. All these were no mean feat from these small loudspeakers really.”

Matrix Audio HPA-2C Desktop Amp/DAC Combo Review

” This as an amp on its own tries not to add too much flavour, it is powerful and balanced, well refined and ever so slightly smooth. It takes the slightly sharp edge off the sound which makes it an enjoyable listen. It may not be the flattest in terms of overall sound, but it is also not as smooth as a valve amp at the same price. It works wonders with Beyerdynamic T1 1st Generation as it takes the edge off the slight sharpness in the treble without taking away the detailed nature of the headphones. The sound is articulate and extended on both ends, with the FA-003ti you get the great separation and soundstage, along with the very tight and detailed sound, but the amp adds a little warmth and adds a little something that makes them sound tonally correct.”

” Though clearly cut from the same cloth – the v1.2’s strict balance, rhythmic intelligence and joie de vivre reveals itself in its successor – the Black makes ground on the legacy sound with more insight and dynamic impetus.”

” Although I needed some time to find the best spots for the speakers, I was reminded from the first notes why I was originally so fond of Sooloos. The sound really is just right, and not at all computer-esque. The presentation is confident, solid and for a lack of a better word, real. Initially I had some bass thumb to get rid of, which in all fairness is a known issue in my listening room when using dynamic speakers. The solution is simply to pull them much further into the room and a little more apart than the Apogees are. The photo above btw does not show their final positions.”

WILSON AUDIO ALEXX FLOORSTANDING LOUDSPEAKER $108,000 REVIEW

June 11, 2016 Comments Off on WILSON AUDIO ALEXX FLOORSTANDING LOUDSPEAKER $108,000 REVIEW

READ HERE

“The Wilson Alexx, however, lived up to a lot more potential than most, making a sound that gave a true sense of what a seriously good loudspeaker can sound like. This is possibly because the loudspeaker manages to combine the finesse needed to tease out those subtle micro-dynamic cues taking place in a recording, while simultaneously being able to unleash the dogs of aural war. You quickly learn on an almost atavistic level just how important that is in reality – an orchestra playing fff is an extremely loud sound up close, but within that powerful maelstrom of sound, you are capable of taking in some remarkably quiet nuances taking place at the same time: like hearing the keys of a woodwind instrument clicking and clacking even in the midst of some very dynamic – and very loud – playing. This comes entirely naturally in the real world, yet is almost always compromised to some extent in the audio domain. The Alexx is one of those rare loudspeakers that can do both, and both extraordinarily well.”

AMG Giro turntable and 9W2 tonearm Review

June 11, 2016 Comments Off on AMG Giro turntable and 9W2 tonearm Review

” So, how did the Giro compare to these turntables? Let me start by saying you really shouldn’t listen to the AMG V12 or the TriangleART Symphony SE if you can’t afford them. They both simply sound more real than any of the other turntables on this list. They play music with a more substantial foundation; the bass is more powerful, you can hear the venue better, and they have more substantial and beautiful tonal color. Most of all, they have a momentum and flow about how they play music that is just so realistic. There are two places where both the AMG V12 and the Giro betters the Symphony SE. First, is in detail as in getting information out of the grove and second, is in letting you hear more of the differences from one LP to another.”
