” The craftsmanship is simply awesome. There is no sign of error with the craftsmanship. A beautiful abalone faceplate is nicely cut and perfectly put on the body in sapphire blue. However, the fit is a bit different than my other Empire and Earwerkz monitors to due Zeus’ larger shell. I think there is a problem with upper concha part of the monitor and this can be a little disturbing at the beginning of listening. I should say that Empire Ears usually do a great job regarding fit; this little change is specific to my Zeus, since they used my old earmolds that are already in their file.’

” When writing a review like this or indeed listening to them sat at the end of a system, it is tempting to continually refer to their very low price. In a word, they are great little speakers. I recommend that you grab a listen to them and perhaps they will find their way into first systems for any number of younger people for whom MP3 and headphones is the usual listening method. They are a genuinely exciting little speaker regardless of their price and I wish them all the best because I found my time with them was musically interesting, but mostly refreshing. Very highly recommended!”

Do you notice how much better the output is in Movie mode and how much more often the sub’s output is governed by the limiter in that mode? This could be nothing more than an artifact of the EQ setting, but the different character of the two modes leads me to believe someone put some effort into this. That’s heartening because sometimes manufacturers get one mode right, then tack on more without much consideration–just so they have more features they can brag about.”

” Oh that glorious tweeter, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. GoldenEar Technology’s HVFR (folded ribbon driver) is glorious. Very fast, clean, and richly extended highs is your reward. Even Drake’s music sounded good(!). Ok, that might be stretching it for my personal preferences in music, yet what I mean is that everything from Kraftwerk to orchestral bells/chimes and the grinding guitar of Steve Vai came through without the dreaded harsh irritants I tent to associate with hard-dome tweeters or lackluster speaker designs. When I say fast, I mean super duper fast come-and-go with nothing overhanging type of highs.”

” The A12 passive technology without the balloon never equaled the active technology I heard in Denver. The A12 still played at a lower levels than the other IEM’s at my disposal, but never did I experience the same jaw dropping experience I did as in the first time I heard them in Denver. I still admire the work that Steve Ambrose is doing and it is important. The passive technology did relieve pressure to my ears in listening sessions. I was able to feel no pressure and listen at lower levels and the A12 never failed to deliver the musicality and tonality that I crave in listening sessions.”

“The Rowland Continuum S2 impacts repertoire of all types so positively. Voices sound present and pinpoint in space; Sinatra of the 70s has the ciggy rasp at the back of some phrases and Ella swings effortlessly. Miles is Miles, his one note saying more than a thousand others spinning whole albums. It gets all the things you’ll ever need regarding your pre and power needs, but it’s the musical magic it brings to the listening room and its adaptability that’ll have you locking the door behind the dealer with the Rowland remaining in your rack. Very highly recommended. ”
