” As accurate as they ever were. The highs are notably detailed without being sibilant – the HD800s can be listened to at decent volumes without severely piercing the ears. The famous 5.5-6k peak has been finally smoothed out, which leaves an overall smoother listening experience. The famous crisp and detailed highs of the HD800 still remain, and compliment the rest of the spectrum perfectly.”

” Away from this it has things that appeal. The desktop app and smartphone controller are good; you can import your own music (250 songs for free, more if you pay a fee); digital versions of any music purchased via Amazon over the years are freely incorporated; it’s ad-free; and playlists, recommendations and offline access are all supported.”

AUDIO RESEARCH GSI75 INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER REVIEW

“Even that headphone amp is no simple afterthought, and given the antipathy most conventional audio brands have toward the headphone world, we might expect something a little so-so here. In fact, the headphone amp is powerful, detailed, and dynamic. It’s also got that unique ‘clean, yet warm’ sound of ARC, and is not afraid to apply that to all bar the most recalcitrant of headphones.”

Schitt Gungnir Multibit DAC & Mjolnir 2 Hybrid-Tube Headphone Amp $1249 Review

” Now for the most important part, the sound. Starting off with the Gungnir Multibit (Gumby), the tonality is quite remarkable. Sounds seem to arise from a broad expanse with spatial cues being projected both wide and deep. Imaging is top-notch but the slightly warm tone that this DAC imparts along with its lack of forthright transients places it slightly behind the much more expensive Schiit Yggdrasil and PS Audio Perfectwave II models in overall separation and resolution. This is a real testament to the Gungnir Multibit as it essentially able to compete with heavyweights many times its own price bracket. The Gumby is able to sound warm, full and smooth while at the same time being highly resolving. A truly great hallmark of any set-up, this talent makes the Gumby a go-to option even in the face of technical beasts because of its organic and liquid-esque quality. It would not be a far off statement then, to liken these to a vinyl system due to its inherent signature and lack of glare. ”

CHORD ELECTRONICS MOJO $599 REVIEW

” The Mojo also plays out a bit better with EDM than the Hugo. That slightly thicker fuller bass response of the Mojo gels much better with the likes of Benny Benassi and Dash Berlin than the Hugo’s more neutral and flatter bass signature. Admittedly though the Hugo has a much more spacious sound to it than the Mojo and the brighter signature in general can often add missing sparkle in some EDM that really needs the top end to shine. Overall though it is about the bass body and weight for the majority of EDM and the Mojo is the more musical choice in that respect.”

Power Sound Audio S3600i Subwoofer Reviewed

“For example, on “Casa Loco” from guitarist Steve Khan’s fantastic album of the same name, all the bass notes sounded perfectly smooth and even. The lowest notes swelled, filling the room without booming or excessively resonating. That’s exactly the way a bass works; plug any electric bass into a good amp, pluck some high and low notes, and you’ll hear what I’m talking about. The groove was right on top of the beat, with zero delay or lag; it pretty much sounded like my Revel F206s had grown a whole lot bigger. The sound reminded me of what I’ve heard from well-calibrated professional subwoofers in top-notch recording studio control rooms.”
