Coincident Dynamite Floorstanding Speaker $2999 Review
February 16, 2017 Comments Off on Coincident Dynamite Floorstanding Speaker $2999 Review
” Once again I pushed aside the listening chair and mounted my Radio Shack SPL meter on my tripod, right between where my ears were positioned, slightly below the level of the tweeters. The measurements validated some important perceptions I have of the Dynamite. First, a peak in the upper bass region is a room related peak that appears in all my speaker measurements. The bass is strong, as I heard, but also goes down to 32 Hz before falling off significantly. Others have had similar results and the website now reflects these findings. ”

VORZÜGE VORZAMP DUOII REVIEW
February 16, 2017 Comments Off on VORZÜGE VORZAMP DUOII REVIEW
“Most of my music reaches nowhere near as low as does Mainstage. As a result setting DUOII’s EQ to the second position returns nothing but clean, massive bass and around a 2dB uptick in highs. It’s not so much a v-shaped curve as it is a mellowed, and lop-sided U-curve. Because it doesn’t engage mid or high bass frequencies, it never reverbs, or splashes. Nor does it boom.”

Hofa Diffusors
February 16, 2017 Comments Off on Hofa Diffusors
Because the paintings covered a very large portion of the walls I ordered 8 Hofa Diffusors rightaway with the idea of combining them into a 2 meter by 1 meter area above the audio system. I should also note that the sound of the Divas, perhaps due to their dipole nature, even without any treatment, is very good. At the listening position there is no peakyness in the bass, nor any evidence of room modes. However, when standing in the room talking, especially when near the system, with the bare walls there is a peak in the midrange where the sound lingers on just too long and voices sound somewhat hollow. Some would refer to this as echo, but it is actually more like reverb. It is this hollowness that I aimed to address with these panels and it was my hope that the overall performance of sound via the Divas might also improve in the process.”

A $170k headphone system experience!

“Any hefty price high-end audio gear will instantly ignite hot reactions. Even start talking about $160.000 headphone listening system will surely led to quite few minds exploding.
But, first and foremost, one of my goals and luxury is the ability to explore state of the art, cost no object products and systems. I’m more then sure, how many of audiophiles and music lovers out there share the same interest to at least experience what’s possible sound wise regardless of the price sticker. Something that sport car enthusiast share more genuinely.

” Fans of the WATT Puppy sound will find a kindred spirit in the oBravo HAMT-1 and tweakers will love the ability to modify the sound to their own tastes. While I believe that the Black Dragon headphone cable is a must have for any serious HAMT-1 owner, the stock cable is great for use with portable devices.”

Peachtree nova300 $2299 Review
February 11, 2017 Comments Off on Peachtree nova300 $2299 Review
“Music taste will determine preference here but how many US$2299 integrateds do you know of that can hold their own against the thrice more costly Devialet? I find the nova300’s greater headroom and more overt macro-dynamic shifts better suited to the KEF standmounts than the Devialet, especially with indie rock and electronica/techno. Want a little more warmth? Add a tube buffer to the nova300’s input/output loop (untested here).
