KEF Reference 5 loudspeaker Review

“I very much enjoyed my time with the KEF Reference 5. It may not be a more affordable, less visually idiosyncratic Blade Two—that speaker stands alone in KEF’s line—but it offers its own balance of strengths: a neutral, uncolored midrange; weighty but well-defined lows; sweet, smooth highs; and superbly secure, stable soundstaging. The Reference 5s might sound too mellow in a large, overdamped space, but in my somewhat irregularly shaped room (18.5′ long by 14′ wide by 8′ high), the immaculately finished KEFs gave me all I need for musical and sonic satisfaction.”

ELAC UNI‑FI FS U5 SLIM FLOORSTANDING LOUDSPEAKER REVIEW
October 2, 2017 Comments Off on ELAC UNI‑FI FS U5 SLIM FLOORSTANDING LOUDSPEAKER REVIEW
“Andrew Jones demonstrated his latest floorstander at the Munich High End show in May. The Adante appears to have the same driver configuration, but what you see are three passive bass units that conceal active ones that sit behind them, but not in an isobaric arrangement. It’s a rather more expensive design but shows that Jones is a designer who thinks outside of the box. That he can produce something like this floorstander for such a competitive price is further testament to his ingenuity.

AudioQuest Niagara 5000 Low-Z Power | Noise-Dissipation System – Review

“Most times over the past 20 years, I forgot my Audio Power unit was in my system. Only when upgrading to the CPT, did I notice a considerable improvement. As such, if you have an old workhorse in your system and are looking for a significant upgrade, why not give the Niagara a test run? You’re thinking better cartridge, better amplifier, right? Before you call Audio Research or Lyra, get hold of a 5000 and listen for a couple of days. I adore Audio Research and Lyra, but you know what I’m betting on. Very highly recommended. ”

SOUNDKAOS LIBÉRATION SPEAKERS REVIEW

”
In past two decades, we’re witnessing a rapid use of different materials for the speaker’s enclosures and implementations of complex calculations. These are closely connected with the way, that sound act/react in closed acoustical spaces, as well as how it interacts with particular chassis materials. ”

Naim Atom Review
October 1, 2017 Comments Off on Naim Atom Review
“If your emphasis is on functionality and you don’t need a ton of output power, the Atom is a killer choice. You’d spend more than $2,995 just buying power cords and interconnect cables for a preamp, power amp, and headphone amp. Stay tuned for part two, where we concentrate on all of the different options and functions.”

Revel Concerta2 F36 Loudspeaker Review
September 30, 2017 Comments Off on Revel Concerta2 F36 Loudspeaker Review
“I also briefly compared the F36s with a pair of Monitor Audio Silver 10s, which are somewhat more expensive ($2,750/pair if you choose their optional piano black finish—the latter available standard on the F36). I’m intimately familiar with the Monitor Audios. They offered a bit more clarity through the midrange and treble. This was a plus on detailed, densely scored material but was less forgiving of bright recordings. With their 8-inch woofers (but only two of them), they also sounded more powerful in the low bass than the F36s”.
